Tough As Steele was formed shortly after the birth of Steele Montgomery Peverill in 2013. Steele was born prematurely at 25 weeks with only a 10% chance to survive. After spending 91 days in the NICU one of Steele's first adventures, 2 weeks after being discharged, was raising awareness and donations by walking in an Annual March for Babies.
Since then Steele has continued to walk annually, raised awareness and nearly $100K as one of the Nation’s top fundraising families, and most recently an Ambassador for the March of Dimes. And during this time, we’ve recognized the gaps in the support families are receiving while in the NICU or PICU. So, we decided it was time for a change.
How does one go about making a change? Start small; focus on your community. Another 5K or golf event? Hell no! We needed to do something to remind of us what it felt like to be a healthy and happy kid. A FIELD DAY!!
After a shotgun meeting and a commitment from two local businesses, CPG and DC Prime, the event Tough As Steele’s Prime Day Powered by CPG was born! Our goal is to raise awareness and donations for local charities impacting children and families in our area.
Hopefully this will be one of many events created to bring light, support, much needed resources to local families in need.
